200 Lisbon Block Party
Photos taken at the April 5, 2008 block party held on Lisbon Street. Neighbors getting together, kids bouncing, music, checking out backyards, street games, storytelling, computer games and good food. Hey urban living can be wonderful but it can also be isolating and many of us miss the absence of community that sometimes pervades our city life. Meeting our neighbors can be complicated, particularly with our widely varied backgrounds, different languages, etc. What better way than a block party?Considerable time, energy, and expertise (yes, there may be grants out there) went into making this happen and we plan to post an article in the not too distant future concerning the event, what went into it and even some guidance for anyone interested in having a block party on their street. Congratulations to the residents of the 200 block of Lisbon for an event well done!
