Mission Terrace to Host Annual Parade & Picnic – Saturday, July 4th
The Mission Terrace Neighborhood Association once again will host a community parade & picnic on Saturday, July 4th in Balboa Park located on 7th Avenue between Geary and Anza, next to the Ingleside Police Station.
The picnic, free to the community, celebrates America and great neighbors. Join the parade on July 4th by 10:30 between the first two blocks of Capistrano Avenue (near Santa Ynez), and march to the park for free food and activities for kids. Juicy burgers and hot dogs generously donated by Roxie Market!
On Thursday, July 9th, join Supervisors David Campos and John Avalos to discuss Sutter Health/CPMC’s plans for the future of St. Luke’s Hospital. Since CPMC is a private entity, how can the public influence CPMC’s plans both to ensure a viable hospital that provides access to healthcare for all and livable neighborhoods?
This meeting will include an explanation of Blue Ribbon Panel recommendations by panelists and information on the updated plan presented at a CPMC hosted community meeting held on June 23rd.
Background:
* In 2001, Sutter Health took control of St. Luke’s as part of the settlement of an anti-trust lawsuit by St Luke’s against Sutter.
* In 2007, Sutter affiliate CPMC merged with St. Luke’s. That summer, CPMC revealed plans to close acute care at St Luke’s by the end of 2009.
* When faced with a Supervisors resolution to begin a medical redlining lawsuit against CPMC, CPMC agreed to convene a Blue Ribbon Panel on the Future of St Luke’s Hospital.
* The Blue Ribbon Panel met from March to July, 2008, and ultimately reached a consensus recommendation that St Luke’s be rebuilt.
* Since then, CPMC has altered or retreated from various Blue Ribbon Panel recommendations.

Looking for some good, sassy fun this summer? Come enjoy one of Shakespeare’s popular plays. Great laughs, great love and two great hearts who meet their match. Prepare to have your heart tamed too!
Don't miss founding Artistic Director Erin Merritt's final production with the company, the triumphant return of El Beh (who played the title role in 2008's Good Person), and the Woman's Will debut of Kate Jopson as Kate, in a production that is sexy and sassy enough for adults but lively and lovely enough for the wee ones.
Bring the whole family—for FREE! Now that's a price we like!
No reservations needed, no tickets to buy—but please consider bringing a donation to keep the company running.
Shrew runs 2 hours and 15 minutes, so please wear sunscreen.
