Minutes of EDIA General Meeting of April 28, 2009
1. Treasury Report- no change from March balance.
2. Recent town hall meeting with Sup. Avalos. Major budget problems w/focus on impact on Rec and Park.
3. Police Report. David Lazar is new Captain at Ingleside and will make presentation at next District 11 council meeting. Pilot project underway at Ingleside re: policing.
4. Presentation by "Rec/Connect", new public/private partnership which will manage Excelsior clubhouse under contract. Much unknown as of this time as to impact. Already manages several sites and promise of extensive outreach in neighborhood.
5. Presentation by Martha Tannenbaum concerning status of efforts to turn the "Geneva mini-strip" space into a community garden. She has met with relevant Rec/Park staff and will continue to do so to move project along. Needs showing of individual and institutional support from neighborhood. Motion passed unanimously to support use of this space for a community garden and letter to be sent to general manager of Rec and Park supporting.
6. Presentation by Susan Ritter, vice-principal of Balboa H.S., concerning developments there. No summer school with graduation related events to occur. Introduced faculty member who is interested in finding community related activities for 10th graders to become involved with. Exchanged some ideas and will attempt to pursue.
7. CSFN. Report from last meeting. Major items of concern include: water rate increases, modification to discretionary review process by planning commission and St. Luke's proposals (all more fully discussed in CSFN's most recent newsletter available on-line).
8. Concern over proposed water rate increases over next several years. Motion made and passed without opposition and one abstention to write letter requesting Sup. Avalos to request a Board meeting concerning the rate increases.
9. EDIA elections coming up. All current officers, board member with expiring terms. i.e. Leo M., and Trustees are re-nominated. Linda Harwood has resigned and Victoria Petersen is nominated as new Trustee.
