Minutes of Excelsior District Improvement Association: February 22, 2011

Police report by Captain Louis Cassanego touched on a recent arson at the church at Ocean and San Juan Street. Door located at top of stairs was scorched. Sunday street vendors/flea market were cited this past weekend; car break-ins are still happening and the public is urged to keep nothing in view in cars; personal robberies are still occurring, most recent incident was a dog walker robbed of cell phone. Captain urged that everyone be aware of surroundings, do not use personal electronic devices in full view. Be aware.

Several complaints were brought to Captain Cassanego's attention:
• 'faux amour' solicitation on Mission Street, 4500 block
• gambling in building on Mission Street near Norton Street
• changing and dumping of motor oil on Harrington Street near Kragren

Ms Jana Clark, City Attorney, commented on the recent action taken against several smoke shops in the Mission and Excelsior area. The case was built by Ingleside Station officers, City Attorney filed suit and is seeking monetary fines of approximately $2,500 per violation.

Ms Jen Drake, City Attorney, Community Relations was introduced to the membership and along with Ms Clark will work with the Excelsior residents on related issues.

Parking Committee reported that petitions have been submitted and MTA was in process of setting up public meeting starting April 19th. The MTA has suggested that 45 degree parking be implemented at Persia and Paris and Persia and Vienna Streets. The committee is still awaiting word from Supervisor Avalos' office regarding the issues he is following with legal questions before meeting with Senator Leland Yee and Parking Committee members.

CSFN report by Angelique Mahan covered the recycling center in Golden Gate Park being evicted; drafting position regarding SF Climate Change position and CTA Transportation Plan over the next 25 years.

Motion made and passed to continue membership in Coalition for San Francisco Neighborhoods and pay current dues of $45.00.

Motion made and passed to appoint Leo Martinez as main delegate to CSFN, Angelique Mahan as alternative delegate and Victoria Peterson as second alternative delegate.

Motion made and passed to donate $200.00 to the Tony Sacco plaque to be installed at the Balboa Bart Station walkway. Dan Weaver is coordinating efforts to create, finance and install the plaque.
