Minutes of regular EDIA membership meeting, January 22 2008

1. Treasury report. Balance of $ 3366.57

2. Luke Klipp, new aide to Sup. Sandoval, introduced himself. He mentioned a number of upcoming measures pertaining to the neighborhood, including a meeting at Ingleside station on Feb 6 to meet foot patrol officers, a hearing on moratorium on new liquor stores, and an update on status of new Ingleside branch library. Discussion of AT&T communication boxes.

3. Presentation by residents from London St. on graffiti and dumping problem on rear of lot behind where Goodwill store is located. Recommendations as to who to contact were offered from several attendees. Motion made and unanimously passed to support efforts, as required, of residents to resolve problem.

4. Presentation by Patty DeVlieg on joint EDIA/EAG project regarding development of the former Woolworth building site. Requests have been forwarded to developer regarding desired components to the plan, pertaining to below market units, parking, etc. Patty intends to write more extensively regarding the project in newsletter.

5. Motions made and passed authorizing payment of $45 for annual CSFN dues, and $10 for annual D11 Council Dues.

6. Announcements: Book club tomorrow, Crocker-Amazon Tile project continues through the winter weather permitting: Mondays & Wednesdays 1-5PM and Saturdays 11AM – 5PM; , history of the Neighborhood Arts Program presentation at library tomorrow at 7:00. Crab cioppino benefit dinner at Corpus Christi scheduled for Feb. 2 at 6:30, $ 35. charge.

7. Balboa Park playground renovation, scheduled for March 4. Volunteers sought.

8. Next Executive Board meeting will start at 3:00 p.m., not 4:00, on Saturday, February 9.

9. Discussion re proposed closing, downsizing of St. Luke's hospital (former St. Luke's ??). Sup. Sandoval gave some background on the CPMC takeover of St. Luke's and now proposal to close or reduce size/services provided. Motion made and passed without opposition to write letter supporting continuation of services at St. Luke's without substantial change/alteration; Leo Martinez to draft the letter.

10. Sup. Sandoval also mentioned the possibility of pursuing a moratorium measure for new "smoke shops" on Mission. Also discussed background regarding removal of trash cans on Mission, and possible problems created as result.
