Minutes of EDIA General Meeting of Jan. 27, 2009



1. Treasury balance is $3217.

2. Police report provided by Ingleside Station Officer Mike Redmond. Improved staffing , presence of gang task force officers and more detectives in the district.

3. President reported death of Elizabeth Hill,mother of long term member and former vice-president Angelique Mahan. Sympathy card circulated and to be sent and motion made and passed without opposition to send flowers.

4. Holidays party discussed. Uniformly positive response. Well attended with congenial atmosphere. Letter of thanks to be sent to Pete Whitcomb of P.O. Pete's Saloon, for volunteering use of his bar.

5. Motion made and passed without opposition to pay $10. annual dues for membership in District 11 Council and authorize any member of the EDIA executive board to represent EDIA at the council as authorized by the board.

6. Discussion about continuing membership in C.S.F.N. by EDIA. After animated discussion, motion made and carried with three members in opposition, to continue membership and authorized payment of $ 45. annual membership fee to C.S.F.N. Motion made and passed re-affirming that EDIA representative to C.S.F.N. must be member in good standing and report back to membership regularly.

7. Discussion of issues that various members attending recommended that our new supervisor prioritize.: maintenance of cleaning and graffiti removal on Mission Street corridor, park budget as relates to District 11, T.E.P. proposals for the Excelsior, staffing at Ingleside Station, no trash collection/recycling facility in McLaren park, continuation of greening efforts and expansion of community gardens in the Excelsior, facilitation of block parties and other community building events, community civic education,and addressing the residential parking problem, possibly via a "summit".

8. Frances Hsieh, aide to supervisor Avalos was introduced and provided her views on the above and discussed the supervisors possible responses as well as plans to have regular meetings at locations yet to be determined in the district.
