Minutes of June 26, 2007 EDIA Meeting

  1. Treasury report, no major expenditures since last meeting. More detailed report at next meeting.
  2. Announcement of workshops for mosaic project for Crocker-Amazon playground benches. See calendar on our website for copies of the flier
  3. Letter sent to planning department in support of Paul O’Driscoll project for Cresta auto site. Copy posted to website.
  4. Announcement of next Excelsior Book Club meeting. See website and newsletter for details
  5. Announcement of Jerryday event in McLaren park on August 5. See website and newsletter for details and contacts.
  6. Announcement of July 4th event, parade, etc. in Mission Terrace neighborhood, focused in Balboa Park area.
  7. Announcement of 2007 Excelsior Festival, scheduled for Sept. 23, 2007. Motion passed unanimously to authorize expenditure of up to $100. for an edia booth at the festival. Festival information , contacts and website available at our website and newsletter.
  8. Motion passed unanimously to authorize expenditure of up to $80. to renew rental of p.o. box for one year.
  9. Announcement from floor concerning traffic congestion and lack of vehicular access to post office at Onondaga. Discussion , no action.
  10. Announcement from CSFN regarding neighborhood group prevailing in legal action against the city in matter concerning land-use planning decision.
  11. Discussion of controversy that has arisen concerning Rec and Park’s plan to renovate and expand the soccer fields in Crocker-Amazon Park. Conflict with neighbors concerning tree removal as part of project. Design of project is being reconsidered in light of objections to tree removal. Revised plan to be re-submitted to community groups shortly and posted on website. Dan Mauer, tel .581-2542, is Rec and Park person in charge. Extensive presentation by Steve Currier of OMRA on background to the renovation. OMRA has been notified concerning renovations and supports plan and wants the project to proceed. No action taken, all concerned parties to await revised plans.
  12. Presentation by Ahsha Safai of DPW. Described “community corridor program”, its likely renewal and expansion. Program involves dedicated street cleaner, intensified litter removal and graffiti abatement.
  13. Election and installation of officers, directors, and trustees for fiscal year beginning June 1, 2007. Robert Katz elected to three year term. Officers, directors and trustees are as follows:
