Minutes of EDIA meeting held on May 22, 2007
1. Report by Vice-President on Treasury status; Balance as of 5/22 is $3283.
Membership dues for fiscal year 2007-2008 due June 1. Dues are $15. per member.
2. Report by two police officers from Ingleside Station. Described a home invasion robbery that occurred on Alemany, a shooting in the Russia/London area and a re-emergence of the Russia/Mission vicinity as a point of focus for neighborhood law enforcement and criminal activity. Discussion of continuing problem of graffiti in the district and abatement activity. Importance of notifying police and preserving evidence to assist criminal law enforcement. If abating prior to police examination, take and preserve photos for future police examination.
3. Presentation by Paul O’Driscoll, new owner of the Cresta site at 5050 Mission, corner of Seneca, and developer of proposed 61 unit (57% 2-bedroom, 43% 1-bedroom) condominium development, 9 of which will be “affordable”, 6 stories in height with 80 parking spaces, retail on ground level and a 650 sq. ft. room available for community use. MOTION PASSED by membership with one dissent, supporting project as presented to be provided to planning commission. Developer to provide EDIA with digital copies of proposal to be posted to EDIA website. Membership expressed appreciation of early consultation in the development process.
4. Presentation by Philip Louie of S.F. Department of Parking and Traffic (DPT), of "traffic calming" measures to be implemented in the Excelsior over next several months. 5. Nomination of candidates for various officers and Trustees of EDIA . All nominations unanimously approved . Nominess: Jackie Wipf, President; Patty DeVlieg, 1st Vice-President; Angelique Mahan, 2nd Vice-President; Jean Carroll, 1st Trustee; Linda Harwood, 2nd Trustee; Sgt-At-Arms, John Consiglieri; Robert Katz, 1-yr Executive Board seat. MOTION PASSED by membership unanimously to approve Linda Harwood’s serving on the Executive Board even though she has moved out of the neighborhood and now lives in Daly City. Election and officer installation to be held at June meeting. Leo Martinez was elected last year to the 3-year Executive Board Seat and continues to serve his term.
6. Miscellaneous Announcements.
7. Discussion of contribution to Excelsior Boys and Girls Club to support sending youths to summer camp. MOTION PASSED unanimously to contribute $170. to send two youths to camp.
8. Discussion of EDIA newsletter. MOTION PASSED unanimously to authorize the sum of $400. in increments of $100. per issue to print and distribute four more issues of the newsletter.
