Minutes of Excelsior District Improvement Association

Called to order at 7:02 by President Jackie Cash.

Pledge to flag led by Pete Whitcomb.

Police Report:  Reported a homicide on Appleton Street, May 4th with one arrest.  Robberies, auto thief numbers down as neighbors are more practiced in calling police.  Captain Louis Cassanego leaving Ingleside Station; assigned to CSI lab.  Introduced new commander, Captain Daniel J. Mahoney.

Parking Committee:  Patty, Dan, and RoseAnn attended MTA board that approved the proposed 90 degree parking on Madrid Street; however, during experiment on Madrid it was shown not to be best solution.  Parking committee met, and decided to request 90 degree be changed to 45 degree parking which required the MTA board revisit our request, which is calendared for July.  Hoping for more members to attend the MTA meeting to ensure a positive outcome.

Pipeline meeting report:  Rosario is in contact with PG&E to setup meeting. 

CSFN:  Reported redistricting meetings will be held; Supervisor Scott Weiner’s try to repeal ordinances already passed into law deemed unnecessary by the Board; hearing on preservation status changes.

Treasurer’s Report:  Balance $2,483.82, after deposits, current balance $2, 543.82.

Discussion on EDIA Holiday Party:  proposed to join with other neighborhood organizations; discussion to be continued.

Proposed massage palor:  Alex Mitra reported that foot massage operators need State Cosmetology license; stated Citrus Heights location not certified according to records.  Jana Clark, reported that Steve Currier is inviting owner to next OMMRA meeting, June 7.

Motion made by Angelique, seconded Pete Whitcomb,  that Robert Greco be reinstated to EDIA Facebook page.  Passed.  13-0-1

Motion made by Pete Whitcomb, seconded Robert Greco, that EDIA members do not want massage palor because of “FACT”s researched by members.  Passed.  10-0-1

McLaren Park Collaborative:  next meeting, June 15 at Excelsior Playground Clubhouse, all are welcome; at the Neighborhood Parks Council Luncheon, Ms Linda D’vairro was a featured speaker touching on her experiences working with NPC for the betterment of our city parks/open space; opportunity to campout in McLaren Park during July thru V-O-Cal trail works, Friday, July 22 to Sunday, July 24, 2011.

D11 Council:  Introduced information regarding Boys and Girls Club Mendocino; July 26 to August 4, 2011 and donations needed.

Motion made by May, seconded by RoseAnn, that EDIA donate $200.00 for the Boys and Girls Club summer program fund.  Passed.  12-0

EDIA elections:  According to by-laws:  nominations held in May; election in June and installation in July.

Announcements:  Precita Eyes founder, Ms Susan Cervantes is producing a poster/postcard, looking for sponsorships; will be working at Cleveland School to touch up wall murals after school construction finishes.

Jana Clark, Assistant City Attorney, urges to use 311 to report, everything and note the tracking number given so she can track any concerns.
