Minutes of EDIA meeting October 23, 2007
1 Treasury Report. Balance $ 3,366 (?) with uncashed membership checks bringing total to $3,400 +/-.
2. Discussion of proposed neighborhood "summit" regarding development of former Woolworth building site on Mission. EDIA to co-sponsor with EAG. Invite neighboring groups. EAG has contacted Sup. Sandoval, architect and developer who have committed to Nov. 17 date at location to be determined. All interested parties are invited to attend. R.K. will contact Mayor's office and advise of event and extend invitation. Also invite Planning. Need to devise a format that's workable, arrange set up for presentation. Steve Currier of OMRA recommended an experienced parliamentarian to chair the summit. Importance of reasonably independent moderator to host, no agreement on whom. Paige, Patty(?) Cristy possibilities, still open to suggestions. Motion passed unanimously that all residents of District 11 who attend the "summit" may vote on one of the options to be presented by the developer. All persons present agreed not to further oppose any motion passed by the majority of eligible attendees, in that moving ahead with a building on the site was the primary objective. Need for further consultation by board.
3. EDIA potluck. Motion passed unanimously to reserve the clubhouse at Excelsior playground for holiday potluck. Dec. 9 is date chosen with Dec. 2 as backup. Motion passed unanimously to authorized expenditure of $150. to rent clubhouse for the event. R.K. to contact rec & park to make reservation.
4. Discussion of proposal by AT&T to install electronics cabinets in the neighborhood. Concern regarding graffiti and other problems arising from above ground placement of boxes and failure of AT&T and city to consult neighborhood before installing boxes. Motion passed unanimously to authorize Pres. Jackie to contact appropriate office of DPW to object to the placement to preserve our right to further input.
5. Motion unanimously passed to authorize expenditure of $15. to obtain copy of Letter of Determination from IRS as to the non-profit status of EDIA if no copy found in files.
