Minutes of EDIA meeting October 28, 2008
1. Treasury Report. Balance is $3,248.
2. Discussion of Oct. 16 community meeting at Balboa H.S. This was follow-up to sept. 20 police/community forum at Monroe school.. Meeting was well attended, approx.80-90 attendees including residents, young people, service providers and candidates. Generally favorable response to the event.
3. Police Report. Discussion of pedestrian right of way laws, M.S. 13 gang presence in the Excelsior and concerns of members.
4. Presentation by Myrna Lim, candidate for Supervisor plus Q&A period.
5. EDIA Christmas party discussion. Difficulties in getting firm price from Rec and Park for rental space and high prices. Offer made by Pete of Pete's tavern to host event on Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at no charge. Willingness to close tavern to public. Offer discussed and accepted unanimously. Motion made and passed unanimously to authorize Executive board to spend up to $150. at its discretion, for the party.
6. Announcements: NEN (Neighborhood Empowerment Network) Awards to honor Tony Sacco (deceased) as recipient of award and inducted into Hall of Fame. EDIA newsletter and Crocker Amazon Tile Project (FACE) also nominated for awards.
