Minutes of Excelsior District Improvement Association Meeting,
October 26, 2010

Meeting called to order at 7:05pm by President Jackie Cash

Pledge to Flag led by Sergeant at Arms John Consiglieri

Treasurer’s Report by Mel Flores: current account balance $2,777.82 plus received $16.00 cash from sales at Excelsior Festival.

Officers Kneuker and Shugars from Ingleside Station were present to answer any questions.  A report from Captain’s meeting submitted by Robert Greco was read by Patty giving an outline of the percentage increase/decrease of  various crimes in the area.  Crime injunction questions were raised and Jana Clark, City Attorney’s office will forward information compiled and is available for an in-depth presentation if requested.

A report on activities at CSFN was given by Angelica Mahan.  Most items regarding ballot propositions were not presented to EDIA membership for decisions and our representative obstained on all votes except for Prop. K which she felt impacted her thus she voted in favor. 

Patty DeVelig reported the Parking Summit committee is developing material to present to neighbors regarding the pilot streets being considered at Excelsior Playground. 

Excelsior Festival was well represented by EDIA members.  This year FACE shared our booth and previewed a brochure representing the whole district which Supervisor Avalos has committed to print.  The Excelsior Book Club is celebrating its 5th year with the current selection, “Man in Gray Flannel Suit”; and with a special “Meet the Author” event on January 11, 2011 at Mama’s Café with Max Stewart at 7pm.

Jackie Cash presented receipt for expenses relating to Excelsior Festival.  Motion made and passed to reimburse Jackie Cash in the amount of $20.00.

At recent convener meeting, Jackie Cash committed monies towards jump house and candy for the Halloween celebration at the Boys and Girls Club.  Motion made and passed to cover commitment in the amount of $75.00 (20 for candy 55 for jump house).

EDIA holiday party discussed, several locations were mentioned and Jackie Cash will confirm location asap.  The membership agreed upon Sunday, December 5, from noon to 4pm, a pot luck luncheon.  Motion made and passed to allocate $100.00 towards party expenses covering paper goods and liquid refreshments.  May Wong with Leo Martinez to make purchases.  A second motion made and passed to allocate $100.00 towards creation, printing and postage for postcards announcing EDIA celebration.  Any expenses above $100.00 will be covered by Patty DeVelig.

Announcement by Mr. Steven Currier regarding the Pavement to Parks project at Naples and Geneva.  There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, November 6 at 11am.  Cordova Market has offered the side of their building for a mural to be installed prior to the ribbon cutting.
