Minutes of regular EDIA membership meeting, September 25, 2007
1. Treasury Report. Balance of $3,436.57.
2. Police Officers from Ingelside Station. Stabbing of juvenile occurred at intersection Excelsior/Lisbon. Likely gang related perpetrators, innocent victim. New captain at Ingelside, Denis O’Leary.
3. Presentation by Julie Kirschbaum program manager of the Transit Effectiveness Project of the MTA. Workshop about plans to improve Muni service scheduled for Saturday, October 20, 10a.m-12:30 at Monroe . Discussed ridership, patterns of use, solicited input, etc. regarding Muni.
4. Presentation by Charles MacNulty from the City Department of Elections. Discussed upcoming November election, registration deadlines, and ranked voting.
5. Discussion of Sept.23rd Excelsior Festival. EDIA had booth, much interest in book club, tree-planting, and Muni-info. Jointly sponsored art project with EAG had wide interest and participation.
6. Announcement about upcoming book club event, “Stiff” on Oct.17, 7 p.m.at Mama’ Art Café.. See the book club section of the website- author to attend.
7. Announcement about Balboa Homecoming, Nov. 3, against Burton . Gates open at 12:30 , tickets $5, game at 2 p.m.
8. Announcement by Steve Currier concerning San Francisco Police Effectiveness Review.
9. Report by Angelique concerning last meeting of Coalition of San Francisco Neighborhoods.
10. Announcement concerning proposed Dec. EDIA holiday potluck to be held at Excelsior clubhouse. No date, times set.
11. Presentation by Tom Walsh, developer of 4550 Mission St. site of the former Woolworth store. Described earlier support by EDIA and EAG for plans, subsequent requests by Sup. Sandoval for plan changes and refusal of planning dep’t. to proceed without approval of supervisor . Resulting confusion and uncertainty causing delay and expense. Much concern regarding the scenario expressed by members and clarification and resolution desired . Motion made and carried unanimously, with one abstention, to authorize officers of EDIA to contact EAG and arrange a joint meeting, including invitation to OMRA and any other interested local community organizations to attend, with invitations to sup. Sandoval, Tom Walsh, planning department and any other relevant city offices to present their positions.
